About the ForumIN line with Government policy the Airport has established an AirportTransport Forum (ATF). The objectives of the Forum, which is made up of representatives of the Airport, the local authorities, regional planning bodies, transport operators, infrastructure providers, local businesses and other interested bodies, are:
For more information on the role and purposes of ATFs please see the Government's Guidance. There is also a version of this in MS Word (133kb). MeetingsLondon City's ATF first met on 9th November 1999. Since then there have been ten further meetings. The minutes of these meetings can be found on the ATF Minutes Page. The last meeting of the Forum was held on Thursday 22nd November 2007 at which there was a presentation by Karen Bain of the Docklands Light Railway on its current projects. This was followed by a briefing by Phil McKenna of London Underground about the impact of the forthcoming escalator replacement works at Bank LT Station. Charles Buchanan and Janet Goulton of the Airport then updated members on current airport issues, including the latest planning application which would raise the annual limit on the number of aircraft movements. The minutes of the meeting have been posted to the ATF Minutes Page and the Presentations can be seen on our ATF Presentations page. The next ordinary meeting of the Forum will take place on a date to be agreed in November 2008. Airport Surface Access StrategyAt the meeting of the Airport Transport Forum (ATF) in December 2003 the Airport said its first Surface Access Strategy (ASAS), drawn up in 2000 was now in many respects out-of--date and it was proposed to replace it. The ATF set up a Working Group to help in this process. and this met in July 2004. The first draft of the new ASAS was unveiled at the ATF meeting on 28th September 2004 and those interested were invited to submit comments, opinions and additions by the end of November 2004. Taking into account all the comments received the ASAS was finalised in February 2005. [Copy of final version - .pdf 475kb]. In line with Government Guidance the objects of the strategy are to:
It seems likely that the ASAS will need to be reviewed and modified in the light of experience with the Airport Extension of the Docklands Light Railway wich opened in December 2005. * |
